Gospel in the Stars

Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Job 38:32

Referred to by Job (Job 38:32), the Mazzaroth is considered to be a grouping of 12 constellations believed for many years to be God-given illustrations of gospel truths. Jewish historian, Josephus, wrote that they were named by Seth, Adam’s third son. The Zodiac (Astrology) became a perversion of the Mazzaroth at the time of Nimrod.
Also in Job, we find mention of the constellations Orion and Pleiades which are located in the Taurus group.

Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. Job 9:9

Arcturus is one of the brightest stars in the sky and it is adjacent to Virgo.

The Heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth his handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. . . . Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun. Psalm 19:1-4

Hebrew tradition holds that Adam, Seth, and Enoch picked 12 constellations of stars, each with a major star and 3 minor ones (called decans) and named them in such a way as to tell the gospel story. Being a nomadic people who slept in the open with their flocks, fathers would point out these constellations to their sons at night and use them to teach the redemption story. This was to give hope to the sons, who had heard stories of the fall of Man and his expulsion from the Garden, showing them that one day God would send His Son to redeem them. Their faith in God's promise, written in the stars, is what saved them from their sins.
Through the "procession of the Equinoxes" the sun gradually shifts its position a little each year, till in about every 2,000 years it begins the year in a different sign. This was foreseen by the ancient Egyptians; and it was also foreseen that succeeding generations would not know when and where the sun had begun its course, and where the teaching of this heavenly book commenced, and where we were to open its first page.
So the Sphinx was invented as a memorial guide to the heavens. It had the head of a woman and the body and tail of a lion, to tell us where to start and stop. The word "Sphinx" is from the Greek "sphingo," to join -- because it binds together the story's two ends, making this circle of the heavens.
Confirmation of this is found in one of the oldest zodiacs, dating back to approximately the year 2000 B.C. This is the zodiac of Dendereh. It was discovered by scholars in the ceiling of the portico of the temple of Esneh in Egypt. In this zodiac there is placed between the signs of Virgo and Leo a picture of the Sphinx.
We must remember that zodiac means “the way.” The Riddle of the Sphinx was that the zodiac begins with Virgo and ends with Leo. In other words, the way to God begins with the Virgin and ends with the Lion. The prophecy to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden was that a Redeemer would “crush the head of the serpent.” (Genesis 3:15) It seems that this entire zodiac in the sky pointed out the Redemption story from the Virgin birth of Christ to His Second Coming as the Lion of Judah, until it was satanically perverted by Nimrod at the Tower of Babel.
The fact that the signs of the zodiac bear little resemblance the pictures associated with them should be of great interest to observers of the night-time sky. Every ancient culture with any knowledge or tradition concerning the stars recognizes the same 12 star groups and the same names or meanings of names. Examine the star knowledge of whatever ancients you choose (Babylonia, China, India, Persia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Central America.....) and everywhere the same constellations are identified and associated with the identical or similar meanings and names.
The only explanation for this fact is that there was one original Source who identified the constellations with their meanings before the dispersion of the peoples of the earth. That would be God.

Meaning of the 12 Signs of the Mazzaroth

Virgo, the Virgin = the birth of the Redeemer by a virgin. What is amazing about this is that this is the same time period of when Christ was born. How sad is nearly everyone thinks its December 25th, which was a pagan celebration from the beginning. Rosh Hashanah, which is the Jewish New Year, starts in this time period as well. For example:
• In Luke 1, it tells us that Zacharias was a priest in the “Course of Abia” which serves twice a year.
• The second ministration was in June. John would have been born in March, since he was 6 months older than his cousin Jesus (Matt 1:18), this would put Christ’s birth around September.
• Sheppards were tending their sheep when the angels announced the birth of Christ (Luke 2:8-11). This period of time would have fallen from summer to as late as September, due to the weather patterns.
• The taxation Luke 2:1, would have taken place after the harvest season around September. Records show that taxation did not take place in the winter.

Libra, the Scales = not originally a scale, but an altar that represented the cross of Christ.

Scorpio, the Scorpion = the scorpion is a symbol of Satan who stings the centaur on the heel.
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15

Sagittarius, the Centaur = a half-man and half-horse. This represents the dual identify of Christ, as He is both God and man.

Capricornus, the goat-fish = a half-goat, half-fish that represents the scapegoat and the people on whose behalf the atoning sacrifice was made.

Aquarius, the Water-Bearer = the Water-Pourer who pours living water into the mouth of the fish.

Pisces, the Fish = two fishes representing the believers receiving the living water from the Water-Pourer.

Aries, the Ram = the Lamb that was slain for the sins of the world.

Taurus, the Bull = Having paid the price, the slain ram will become the mighty bull to execute judgment on a sinful world.

Gemini, the Twins = As both God and man, the Second Adam will claim His bride.

Cancer, the Crab = Originally, a hiding place for the congregation of the redeemed.

Leo, the Lion = As the eternal King of Kings and Lord of Lords. the Lion of Judah will destroy the works of the serpent forever.

Conclusion

God’s word says: For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Romans 1:20

Even the invisible things point to God. The most important decision you and I will make in our lives is what we decide concerning eternity.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
